The Canyon Lake Lions Club is one of over 40,000 Lions Clubs with 1,600,000 members in 171 countries around the world. The club motto is “we serve.” The international organization is best known for its work with people who are sight or hearing impaired but, in recent years, has added concern for the victims of diabetes and drug and alcohol abuse.
The club in Canyon Lake has been active since 1972. Funds for its charitable work are raised through an annual White Cane Day, a Pancake Breakfast, participation in Fiesta Day and their annual Golf tournament. The expenses of the club operations are covered by the member dues so that 100 percent of monies collected form the public is used for charitable purposes.
Thos interested in doing something for their less fortunate fellow man and have fun doing it, are cordially invited to join. The club meets for dinner on the second Thursday of each month at the Lodge at 7 pm. For additional information call Frank Kessler @ 244-5914.
