Members of the Canyon Lake Amateur Radio Service (CLARS) are licensed amateur radio operators (Hams) and others who have joined together to provide communication in an emergency. They are also members of the Riverside County Radio Amateurs Civil Emergency Service (RACES) which coordinates this activity with surrounding communities. Emergency generators and radio equipment, donated by the Home Owners Club, are located at the Fire Station.
The group meets at Fire Station 60 on the third Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. for club and training sessions.The group is also responsible for management of the Citizen Band (CB) networks of radio operators who will assist Damage Assessors in an emergency. Practice nets are operated on the first Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m.
The group invites any ham operator or anyone interested in becoming a ham to join with them. Call Steve Turner @ 244-8282 for further information.
